August at Bailey Huts: Mini-Moons and Meaningful Moments

August brings colour, warm evenings and plenty of reasons to celebrate. Mini-moons, anniversaries and birthdays all feel at home in a private shepherd’s hut made for two.

Recent guests have arrived looking for peace, privacy and uninterrupted time together.

One couple arrived for their mini-moon and left the most thoughtful words:

“We had the most amazing experience at Bailey Huts for our honeymoon. Zoe had gone all out to make our stay so very special, and had even decorated and left us a little gift. We made the most of our stay with beautiful walks, evenings in the hammock watching the wildlife (especially the owl), and of course we had to try the cold plunge. We are thrilled to have found this treasure of a retreat and cannot wait to return for our first anniversary.”

Celebration stays have become a big part of Bailey Huts. One couple arrived from just half a mile away to celebrate their wedding anniversary and wrote:

“What a summer solstice. We came for our wedding anniversary and this magical place (just 0.5 miles from our busy family home) didn’t disappoint. It’s like time stops here and feels like a treat for the soul. We will be back.”

Their words are a lovely reminder that you do not have to travel far to feel properly away.

A Taste of August: Homemade Meadowsweet Cordial

Recently I’ve been picking meadowsweet from the lanes and riverbanks nearby. It has a soft, creamy scent and makes a beautifully delicate late-summer cordial. The season is almost over now, but I’ve gathered enough to make a few batches.

I offer it in the honesty shop and it often finds its way into the celebration gift bags. It’s a gentle taste of the Ribble Valley in summer.

Fancy making it yourself? Find the recipe here.

New to Bailey Huts: Celebration Gift Bags

This summer I’ve introduced celebration gift bags for guests marking something special, whether that’s a mini-moon, anniversary, birthday or congratulations.

Each one is put together by me and tailored to the occasion.

Contents vary, but may include homemade cordial or gin and handmade chocolate pralines. The bag itself is yours to keep.

It’s been lovely to see how much guests appreciate these little surprises.

August Events Nearby:

Clitheroe Food Festival

Clitheroe Food Festival is one of the Ribble Valley’s most popular summer events, with the town centre transformed into a celebration of Lancashire food and drink. You’ll find local producers, bakers, cheesemakers, distillers and independent businesses offering tastings and freshly prepared dishes.

It’s a lovely way to spend a few hours wandering through the stalls, discovering local flavours and soaking up the atmosphere.

RHS Bridgewater

Just under an hour from Bailey Huts, RHS Bridgewater makes a wonderful day out for anyone who enjoys beautiful gardens. The walled garden is spectacular at this time of year, the herbaceous borders are full of colour, and there are plenty of peaceful corners to sit and take everything in.

The woodland walks are relaxing, the glasshouse is well worth exploring, and it’s somewhere you can enjoy at your own pace before returning to the peace of Bailey Huts.

One Night Just Isn’t Enough…

One of the comments I read most often in my guest book is, “I wish we’d booked for longer.”

One night passes quickly once you have settled in, lit the hot tub and watched the sunset from the hammock.

Two nights gives you the chance to slow down properly. You can spend one day simply enjoying everything Bailey Huts has to offer, then head out to explore the beautiful Ribble Valley before returning for another relaxing evening under the stars. There’s no need to rush, and you can truly make the most of your stay.

Whether you’re celebrating a mini-moon, an anniversary, a birthday or simply escaping everyday life for a while, August is a wonderful time to visit. The gardens are still full of colour, the evenings are warm, and every stay is an opportunity to reconnect, relax and create memories together.

I look forward to welcoming you to Bailey Huts, Zoe x
