A few days in Seville 🇪🇸

I went away for a little break, but I couldn’t help noticing all the things that caught my eye along the way.

The old buildings, beautiful gardens, tiles, colours, food, lighting and all those little details that make a place feel special.

I always find that when I travel, I come home with ideas. Not necessarily things I want to copy, but feelings, colours, textures and little details that make me think about how I can bring something similar into Bailey Huts.

And this trip has definitely given me a few ideas…

Especially when it comes to breakfast. 👀

From very soon, breakfast will be included with every stay, with more of my homemade goodies making their way into the breakfast hampers.

One of the reasons I designed the hot tub this way was so you can enjoy it whatever the weather. Tucked away in its own cosy cabin, you can soak in the warmth while listening to the rain on the roof. There really is something special about it 🙌

And if you fancy warming up even more, the wood-fired sauna is waiting too, right next to the cabin, all totally private and exclusive!!!! With just one shepherd’s hut, it’s always your own private escape. No shared spaces, no crowds, just time together 🥰

Not long after opening Bailey Huts last March, I received my one and only 4⭐ review.

I’ll be honest… it really upset me.

I knew how much care went into every stay, so hearing that I’d probably never get back to a perfect 5⭐ rating knocked my confidence.

Then I made a decision.

I couldn’t change one person’s opinion, but I could keep giving every guest the very best experience I possibly could.

So that’s exactly what I did.

Every homemade touch.
Every hot tub lit.
Every little detail.
Every guest welcomed with the same care as the first.

I just got back from a luxury stay of my own...and it gave me a massive reality check so I thought I’d share my honest thoughts with you all...

Don’t get me wrong, I had an absolutely wonderful time but as an accommodation host, I can never quite turn off the “business” side of my brain and staying somewhere else made me look at Bailey Huts with completely fresh eyes. It’s funny how sometimes you have to step away from your own creation to realise exactly how good you have it...☺️

I noticed so many things that other luxury stays charge extra for, or don’t offer at all, that I consider standard for my guests. From the absolute total privacy of being the only hut on site, to having a fully equipped kitchen, central heating, and those thoughtful little luxuries waiting for you, I really did build this space with no compromises and it made me feel incredibly proud of what I offer my guests here.

You can do everything right… and still have a day like this…😩

Today started exactly as I’d planned. I was out foraging meadowsweet to make homemade cordial for my guests, before heading back to Bailey Huts to make homemade chocolate pralines, sourdough, butter and get everything ready and add all those little finishing touches.

Then, just as I was about to get the wood-fired hot tub ready, I received a text to say there had been a burst water main !!! With no water supply, I had no choice but to cancel today’s booking 😳

The hardest part wasn’t all the work I’d already done. It was making the phone call to tell my guests they couldn’t come because of something completely outside my control.

In the year I’ve been welcoming guests to Bailey Huts, this is the first time I’ve ever had to cancel a stay because of something completely beyond my control, and if I’m honest, it’s been really upsetting.

That’s the reality of running a small business. You pour your heart into every stay, but sometimes life has other plans.
